Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Arizona Properties Donates 105,000 bottles of water to Phoenix Rescue Mission
Water Drive Beats Donation Record Again!
PHOENIX (August 18, 2015) Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Arizona Properties donated 105,568 bottles of water to the Phoenix Rescue Mission this week. The company’s annual Code Red Water Drive provided nearly 9,000 more bottles of water over its 97,000 bottle donation in 2014.
“This is the fourth year we have held a summer water drive for the Phoenix Rescue Mission, and we’ve increased our donations every year,” said Susie Yee, organizer of the event on behalf of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Arizona Properties. “The Mission does great work on behalf of the homeless and those with substance abuse problems. During the extreme heat we experience in the summer, the water goes a long way in keeping people alive and hydrated.”
Yee said Costco at 33rd Avenue and Indian School Road also helped with the donations this year by offering special pricing on the water and free delivery to the Phoenix Rescue Mission. “We were able to purchase the bottles at a much better price than we could at our individual offices last year,” said Yee. “Our offices really worked together to provide this much-needed water to the Mission.”
Eight Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices office in the greater Phoenix area collected donations and water for the annual Code Red drive. The company’s Scottsdale office raised more than any other with 34,004 bottles donated to the Mission.
“We are happy to offer any help in reducing the number of heat-related fatalities in Arizona, and having water during the extreme heat is a big part of that,” said Yee. According to the Phoenix Rescue Mission, heat related deaths in Arizona have gone from 110 recorded in 2012 to just 26 in 2014. “That is a significant decrease and we are happy to do anything we can to help reduce heat related deaths in the Valley.”
