Phoenix Rescue Mission Beats The Heat With Massive Water Donation From Arizona Properties
Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Arizona Properties gives 50,000 bottles of water to the charity
PHOENIX (July 12, 2013) For the Phoenix homeless population, extreme heat can be life threatening. One local real estate company is making a difference during the city’s hottest time of year. Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Arizona Properties put its connections to work recently and donated more than 50,000 bottles of water to the Phoenix Rescue Mission.
“We regularly support the Phoenix Rescue Mission, and when we saw how the heat affected those that utilize their facility, we wanted to help,” said Charlie McLean, general manager of BHHS Arizona Properties. “We made it into a fun contest to see which of our offices in Arizona could donate the most water for the mission and they really showed how generous they are. Our Scottsdale office donated 27,034 bottles alone, more than any Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices office in the valley.” Overall, the company collected a total of 53,890 bottles of water.
BHHS Arizona Properties’ real estate sales executives and staff gave an average of 99 bottles per person company-wide. Through the company’s partnership with national non-profit Move For Hunger and local moving company Allied Olympian Movers, the water was delivered by the truckload to the Phoenix Rescue Mission.
“Move For Hunger is an organization that helps people who are moving donate their non-perishable food to local pantries so it is a perfect fit for our clients,” said BHHS Arizona Properties CEO Mark Stark. “We partnered with Move For Hunger and their local transportation companies for a company-wide campaign with our Nevada offices. Together we delivered more than 84,000 bottles of water to the Phoenix Rescue Mission and the Las Vegas Rescue Mission. It was a great feeling to be able to come together and make a difference for the homeless in our communities.”
Phoenix summers traditionally deliver temperatures well into the 100s most days in July. “In heat like this, staying hydrated is crucial to staying healthy,” said McLean. “We are big supporters of the Mission’s programs and hope the donation helps make that one aspect of their services a little easier this summer.”
